Frequently asked questions
How do I know which thermal print head fits my printer?
Match three things: the printer model number, the paper width (58 mm vs 80 mm), and the OEM part number stamped on the back of the old head. The part number is the most reliable — for example, an Epson TM-T88V uses a different head from a TM-T88IV even though they look identical externally. If your old head is unreadable, send us a photo of the printer's serial label and we'll cross-reference.
Is aftermarket as good as OEM?
For thermal print heads, yes — when the supplier is reputable. A quality aftermarket head from a Japan- or Korea-licensed line typically delivers OEM print density and 90%+ of OEM lifespan at 50–60% of the OEM list price. Cheap unbranded heads, by contrast, often fail within months. Every head we sell ships with at least a 6-month warranty.
Why does my new print head still print faded receipts?
Three usual causes, in order: (1) the platen roller is glazed or worn and needs cleaning or replacement; (2) the printer's print-density setting was lowered for paper savings — check the configuration menu; (3) the new paper is off-spec and the head can't deposit enough heat for proper darkening. Quality 80 gsm direct-thermal paper rated for 230 mW/mm² fixes most density issues.
